Shift work including night shifts. Port arrivals, departures and turnaround days are the busiest hours.
Required documents and conditions
Document requirements vary by flag, owner and position. Once we have seen what you hold, we tell you in writing what is missing — we do not proceed on guesswork.
- 01Good English — a second language is a serious advantage

- 03STCW basic safety training
- 04Seaman's book and a valid passport
Questions specific to this position
Is a second language required?
Not required, but very useful depending on the route; German or Italian on Mediterranean routes and Spanish in the Caribbean are frequently sought.
Am I responsible for cash handling?
On most ships reception is also the payment point. How it works is written into the ship's procedure and handover is recorded.
