Working on Cargo Vessels
Container, bulk and general cargo vessels. The backbone of world trade; small crews and high responsibility per person.
01Life on board
Quiet and self-contained. You share the same space for a long time with a crew rarely exceeding twenty; cabins are usually single. Port calls are short and shore leave is not always possible. Internet access varies by vessel.
02Who it suits
For those who prefer quiet over crowds and want to go deeper technically. The classic route of a deck or engine career runs through here.
03Contract and working pattern
Contracts are shorter than on cruise ships. If the route involves long ocean passages you may not see land for weeks — we say plainly that this is an isolated period.
