A floating hotel: hundreds, sometimes thousands of guests and a large crew serving them. For Turkish seafarers this is the most common way in.
01Life on board
Crowded and orderly. Cabins are shared; the crew has its own mess and common areas. Visibility is high in guest-facing roles and dress and conduct rules are applied strictly. Port days are frequent, so shore leave is more available than on other ship types.
02Who it suits
The most natural start for people with a hotel, restaurant or tourism background. The ship type most open to inexperienced candidates — but also where the English expectation is clearest.
03Contract and working pattern
Contracts are generally longer than on other ship types; leave comes at the end of the contract. Working hours are heavy and run seven days a week — you need to know that at the outset.
